If you wish to backup network-attached storage (NAS) such as Synology, there are three options to consider. These are outlined below.
Option 1
Mount the volumes as iSCSI shares on to a Windows machine that is running an ESE agent. This will allow us to backup the volumes as local disks.
Option 2
Backup the volumes over a network share using the ESE agent. Please note that files that are open or in use will be skipped, and performance may be slower when using this option.
Option 3
Run a Linux virtual machine on the NAS. Install the ESE agent onto this VM, then grant the VM access to the volumes.
