1661 - RedApp authentication pop-up not appearing

Modified on Thu, 30 Apr at 11:45 AM

Authentication is a required step when adding or recovering a backup set in the RedApp. If you are expecting an authentication pop-up and it is not appearing, you likely have a pop-up blocker enabled in your browser. Below are instructions for allowing pop-ups for the RedApp (app.redstor.com) in popular browsers.

How to disable a pop-up blocker

Google Chrome

  1. Open the three-dot menu () → Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy and Security → Site Settings.
  3. Scroll to Pop-ups and redirects.
  4. Under Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects, click Add.
  5. Enter the URL https://app.redstor.com and click Add.

Alternatively, as soon as Chrome blocks the pop-up, click the icon that appears in the address bar select "Always allow pop-ups from app.redstor.com".

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open the three-dot menu () → Settings.
  2. Go to Cookies and site permissions → Pop-ups and redirects.
  3. Under Allow, click Add.
  4. Enter the URL https://app.redstor.com and click Add.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open the hamburger menu () → Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll to Permissions → Block pop-up windows.
  4. Click Exceptions.
  5. Enter the URL https://app.redstor.com and click Allow.
  6. Click Save Changes.

Safari (macOS)

  1. Open Safari → Settings (or Preferences).
  2. Go to the Websites tab.
  3. Click Pop-up Windows in the left sidebar.
  4. Find https://app.redstor.com in the list and set it to Allow. If the site is not listed, visit it first, then it will appear in the list.

Safari (iOS/iPadOS)

  1. Open Settings → Safari
  2. Scroll to General
  3. Toggle Block Pop-ups off (this is a global setting — Safari on iOS does not support per-site pop-up settings).

Brave

  1. Open the hamburger menu () → Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy and security → Site and Shields Settings.
  3. Click Pop-ups and redirects.
  4. Under "Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects", click Add.
  5. Enter https://app.redstor.com.

Also check the Brave Shield icon in the address bar, as it may be blocking popups independently of browser settings.

Browser extensions

Ad blockers and privacy extensions (e.g. uBlock Origin, AdBlock, Privacy Badger) can block pop-ups regardless of browser settings. If disabling the pop-up blocker in your browser doesn't solve the problem:

  • Temporarily disable any privacy extensions or try an incognito/private window.
  • Allow https://app.redstor.com in the ad blocker settings.

Corporate/ managed browsers

If your browser is managed by an organisation (as is common in enterprise environments), pop-up settings may be enforced via group policy. Contact your IT team to allow pop-ups from https://app.redstor.com.
