OneDrive Storage Metrics is a way for Microsoft 365 admins to see the cumulative size of all versions of a file. Because certain types of files are often versioned many times, the file's size shown in Storage Metrics may be vastly different from the actual file size as shown in the file's properties.
When recovering files with InstantData Temporary, such as during a disaster recovery test, the file size shown in InstantData should correspond to the file size shown in the file's properties, not the size shown in Storage Metrics.
If you are using InstantData Temporary to check if backed-up files will recover correctly in the event of a disaster, bear in mind that there may be a significant discrepancy between the file size shown in Storage Metrics and the file size shown in InstantData. However, as long as the InstantData file size corresponds to the file size shown in the file properties, the file wil recover correctly.
