1189 - ESE Options menu: 500 Server Error

Symptom

When clicking OK within a tab in the Options dialog box in the ESE Agent, the error message “500 Server Error” is presented.

The service.log file shows the following error message:

2019-01-04 14:34:20,189 ERROR [39] RestErrorHandler - displayName must not be empty
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: displayName must not be empty

Solution

To resolve this issue, you need to apply a displayName to the Redstor ESE backup service. To do this:

1. Stop the backup service.
2. Edit the service.properties file as an administrator.
3. Complete the line service.displayname (add the line if it does not exist yet), for example:

service.displayname=Redstor Backup Pro ESE

4. Save the service.properties file.
5. Restart the backup service.

Note: If the issue persists or the 500 Server Error occurs with a different message in the service log, please log a ticket with the Redstor support team.
