1268 - Backup fails because a5backup.properties file is not copied

Symptom

A backup fails with the following warning:

WARN: 22:00:02 Could not move original properties file 'C:\Program Files\Redstor Pro\Backup Client ESE\a5backup.properties' 
to it's backup
ERROR: 22:00:02 Backup failed: Failed to save properties file 'C:\Program Files\Redstor Pro\Backup Client 
ESE\a5backup.properties': Could not write contents to properties file 'C:\Program Files\Redstor Pro\Backup 
Client ESE\a5backup.properties'

Cause

This failure occurs at the start of a backup if the account details are changed after the settings are retrieved, and the Agent is unable to save those changes. Antivirus software or an anti-malware tool like Microsoft Defender may be preventing writing to the file.

Solution

There is no known solution yet. We recommend adding the location of the a5backup.properties file as an exclusion to any kind of software that may be checking for malicious activity. See more on antivirus exclusions in Article 008.
