1556 - Requesting backup account deletion through Redstor Support

Modified on Tue, 5 Aug at 1:12 PM

Some cloud service backup accounts cannot currently be deleted through the RedApp. If you need to delete these accounts, or require a bulk account deletion, please log a request with Redstor Support.

Our Support Team can assist with removing backup accounts, but group/folder and collection deletions must be performed by an admin user within the RedApp.

To request account deletion through Redstor Support, follow the steps below.

  1. Log a support ticket through the AI assistant in the RedApp, or through the Support Portal.

  2. A Redstor Technical Support Agent will share a .csv file with you containing a list of your backup accounts. On this file, mark the accounts that are to be deleted with an X in the ToBeRemoved column.

Important: The AccountGuid and GroupGuid fields in the .csv are used by Redstor to process the deletion. The fields AccountName, Product and Path are provided for your ease of reference. All fields must remain aligned for accurate deletions to take place. Please refrain from making changes to the fields, as this may lead to misalignment of account details.

  3. Return the file to the Support Agent.

  4. You will now be asked for a second written confirmation of your deletion request, as deletion will permanently destroy the backed-up data. By confirming, you acknowledge that:

    • The account information columns in the list you returned remain correctly aligned with the ‘ToBeRemoved’ column.
    • The file has not been modified in a way that could misalign any account details.
    • You authorise that we Redstor may proceed with the deletion.
    • Redstor is indemnified against any claims related to the destruction of backup data for these accounts.

  5. The Support Agent will acknowledge your confirmation and log the request internally for execution. The account deletion will occur within five (5) business days from this response.

  6. Once the deletion has been executed, the Support Agent will provide you with confirmation. Deletions will reflect in the RedApp front-end immediately.

At this point, we strongly recommend verifying that the backup accounts displayed in the RedApp are aligned with your expectations. To check that the correct deletions have been executed, run an AuditTrailSummaryInX report from the Storage Platform Console for each pertinent group/folder/collection. Use the following parameters:

    • Action: ‘Deleted’ (do not use ‘All’, which will retrieve all actions).
    • Group Name: The group path of the group from which the accounts were deleted.

The results of this report can then be used for comparison and verification.

After the deletion, there is only a 336-hour window during which deletions can be reversed. Any incorrect deletions must be reported to us as soon as possible, as we are unable to reverse deletions after the 336-hour window. Redstor does not accept liability for deletions that were erroneously requested. Read more about account undeletes in Article 1499 - How to recover a deleted backup account.
