1639 - ESE interface fails to open on SLES 16, openSUSE Leap 16

Symptom

After installing the ESE agent and adding your user to the backuppro group as per the instructions in Article 1027, the agent interface does not open. Instead, the following error message is shown: "The Backup Client interface could not be started. Consult the log files for details."

This happens on the following operating systems:

• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 16 with Gnome/Wayland support
• openSUSE Leap 16 with Gnome/Wayland support

Solution

To resolve this:

1. Install the libgthread-2_0-0 package using the following command:

sudo zypper install -y libgthread-2_0-0

2. Open the ESE interface again.
