1584 - Error: "The parent Collection restricts overspill"

Symptom

On attempting to increase the storage overspill percentage for a group from the Storage Platform Console, the following error presents: "The parent Collection restricts overspill to x% or less. Please adjust."

Cause

This happens because a group inherits its overspill percentage from its parent collection. It is not possible to set a higher overspill for a group than what has been set for the parent. If you attempt to exceed the parent's overspill, you will see the error above.

Solution 

To increase the overspill for a group, you will need to first increase the overspill for the parent. Changes to the parent collection's overspill can only be made by a collection administrator.

If the parent collection was deployed from the RedApp (as opposed to the Storage Platform Console), your organisation will not have a collection administrator and you will need to log a ticket with our support team to assist.
