1049 - How to enable/disable Insight scanning in ESE

When Insight is enabled on a machine's ESE agent, the machine will be periodically scanned for file and volume information (such as the number, age and size of files) for the purpose of extracting data insights. No sensitive information is accessed or shared during this process.


To enable/disable Insight scanning, click the Options button in the ESE interface or go to Tools > Options and Settings.


Under Insight, tick or untick the box Enable Insight on this computer.

  • You can also choose to add the scan button to the ESE interface, allowing you to run ad hoc scans on the machine. To do this, tick Show scan button.
  • Tick Show Insight logs to include information about insight scanning in the machine's logs.


Click OK to save your chosen settings.
