When a primary StorageServer is unavailable or unreachable, InstantData gives you the ability to restore data from a MirrorServer. You will need connectivity between the ESE agent and the MirrorServer on the specified port to allow the restore to run.
To restore from a MirrorServer using InstantData, follow the steps below.
1. Access InstantData in one of the following ways:
From the ESE agent on the machine you want to recover
Click on the InstantData button at the top of the interface.
From the RedApp
Locate the machine you want to recover. Expand its menu on the right, and click Recover using InstantData.
From the Storage Platform Console
Right-click the name of the account that your want to recover and click InstantData > Open.
2. Select the type of restore you want to do.
3. On the next screen, the Server field will contain the default StorageServer address.
Replace this with the the MirrorServer address that you want to recover from.
Typically, the MirrorServer address will be one data centre number higher than the StorageServer address (e.g. ukdc4 instead of ukdc3), and "SS" (StorageServer) will be replaced with "MS" (MirrorServer), as in the following examples:
Default | Replace with |
zadc1ss11.dev.redstor.com:443 | zadc2ms11.dev.redstor.com:443 |
ukdc4ss11.pro.redstor.com:443 | ukdc5ms11.pro.redstor.com:443 |
If you are unsure about the correct MirrorServer address, please reach out to your service provider.
4. Click Next to proceed with the recovery configuration. See Article 1192 for a list of InstantData options.
