From Friday, 30 January 2026, we will introduce changes to the process of creating new Microsoft 365 backup sets (Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, but not Entra ID). These changes are designed to prevent errors and speed up configuration.
Note: While we endeavour to provide the most accurate estimates possible, the provided dates are subject to change.
What’s changing?
30 January: Temporary removal of account selection for backup
When adding a new M365 backup set, the option to select specific accounts for backup will be temporarily removed. For any new backup sets that are added from this date until the next release, all accounts will be selected for backup. As before, admins will be able to edit the backup selection once the backup set has been added.

5 February: Reintroduction of account selection for backup
Our new changes will take effect, and you will again be able to to select specific accounts during backup set creation.

Who is affected?
This change applies to any partner or customer creating a new M365 backup set from 30 January onward. Existing backup sets will not be affected.
What do I need to do?
From 30 January, partners and customers should continue onboarding new backup sets as before. For backup sets where only specific accounts should be backed up, complete the onboarding and then make the necessary changes by going to Backup selection > Edit on the home page for the backup set. This will only be necessary until approximately 5 February.
